Thursday 17th July

The German GP returns to Hockenheim this year after not having a race last season, and with the driver's championship alive and well, there has been some spirited betting on this race.

Lasseters opened Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton as equal 2.75 favourites, but the first move of the week was for the 'Flying Fin' who is now into 2.50. Some of our more astute F1 punters took the 2.75, and is expected to get back into the winner's circle.

Hamilton won the British GP in sloppy conditions a fortnight ago, but we haven't seen any money for him to make it two on the trot. Punters have also steered well clear of Felippe Massa (4.25) as he has been struggling to maintain consistent form, but there has been a really good push for Heikki Kovalainen who has come in from 17.00 to 13.00.

Kovalainen qualified fastest in the UK but was another who couldn't handle the conditions, but it looks as though the betting public think that if there is a try track, he will be in contention again. Germany is the home of Ferrari, and back in the days of Michael Schumacher it was nearly a foregone conclusion that Ferrari would win, so they will be going all out to ensure a home victory. Perhaps the value lies with Massa?
