A first ever Champions League semi-final appearance, against a team many expect to go all the way, awaits Leverkusen, the current Bundesliga leaders. The pressure is mounting on Klaus
Toppmoller. His team, Bayer Leverkusen, go into unchartered territory in
Europe this week on the back of a shock home defeat to Werder Bremen.
Thats hardly ideal preparation for the biggest ever European game in the
club's history and a result which could also seriously jeopardise their
chances of winning a first ever Bundesliga title. United, on the other
hand, could hardly be in better shape having boosted their chances of
domestic league honours with an overwhelming performance against Chelsea
which would have had Toppmoller mopping his brow. Granted, Leverkusen's
enthralling win over Liverpool at the BayArena is worthy of respect, but
United have been here before and have ominously continued to improve
