FAVOURITES CONTINUE TO TIGHTEN FOR FLAG The top three teams in the market at TABSportsbet for the 2004 AFL premiership all shortened in the betting after the completion of Round 3 over the Easter weekend. Flag favourites, Brisbane, firmed marginally from $3.15 to $3.00 after they demolished Collingwood by 10 goals at the Gabba on Thursday night. Not to be outdone, second pick Port Adelaide flexed their muscles, along with their considerable talent to belt the hapless Hawks by 81 points at AAMI Stadium. The Power has had their odds reduced from $5.50 to $4.50 after the win. Third favourites, StKilda, continued on their winning way against a disappointing Richmond and are now rated a $6.00 flag chance after being quoted at $7.50 before the weekend’s victory. Other winners, Sydney and Essendon, have also shortened marginally and sit on the fourth line of betting at $13.00. Round 3 losers, Collingwood, Hawthorn and West Coast have all eased in Premiership betting and are now $16.00, $17.00 and $18.00 respectively. Port Adelaide vice captain, Warren Tredrea, is the new Brownlow Medal favourite at TABSportsbet at $9.00 after the market was reviewed at the completion of this week’s matches. Tredrea is just ahead of Bomber skipper, James Hird and West Coast captain Ben Cousins who are equal second picks at $10.00 followed by StKilda young gun Nick Riewoldt at a quote of $12.00.
