AFL ROUND 20

Richmond V Hawthorn

Danny will be scratching his head. Tiger fans have been screaming the remedy all year. Kick it long to the 3 talls! Richo, Ottens & Stafford. Tiger players give Danny’s hair another grey rinse by nearly giving up a 6 goal lead. If only Lonie’s kick had gone through instead of hitting the post, was the cry of the Hawks supporters. Hawks under the real hammer for September action now!!. Punters warm to the first game of the round. Punters rally to the Hawks with the news of no Gasper for the Tigers

Bigger Bets

Hawks –10.5 @ $1.90 $8800

Hawks –10.5 @ $1.90 $8000

Hawks @ $1.60 $5000

Hawks @ $1.55 $3000

Richmond 1-39 $7000 @ $2.85

Roos V Carlton

Roos firm in the betting, from opening price of $1.33 to start the game @ $1.20.

Blues friendless in straight out betting but one (lucky) punter happy to throw his money on the Blues with 27 points start. Roos gather some injuries during the game and squander a 50 point lead and see the Blues kick the last 6 goals and get within 14 points at the finish. Only interest in Carlton this year will be, can big Jack keep his job??

Bigger Bets

Roos $8000 @ $1.30

Roos $2500 @ $1.25

Roos $12000 @ $1.90 –27.5 (unlucky)

Blues $15000 @ $1.95 +27.5 (lucky)

Fremantle v Geelong

Well the tried and true recipe of Freo at home, throw on, was again proved correct. Is it the same side the gets on the plane every two weeks to travel, because they play completely different. Cats younger players looking tired and now seem a rough chance to hang onto what seemed a guaranteed place in the Final 8 of year 2002. Freo hand the Cats a thrashing. Punters not really interested in this game, with turnover low. Brownlow watch S King a bet of $2500 @ odds of $11.00 taken this week.

Bigger Bets

Freo $3000 @ $1.53

Geel +13.5 $3000 @ $1.95

Essendon V Collingwood

With Essendon starting the outsider in this game against Collingwood, it is the first time staff from this office can remember. Collingwood has some history of dropping off in the months of June & July, Malthouse has extended that to August, but the Magpies looking very ordinary with September just around the corner. One client close to Global Sportsbet, will now have the mantle of Kiss of Death when it comes to putting their (haha) money on the Pies. Bombers may sneak into September action after this weeks results. Plenty of action on all options this game.

Bigger Bets

Ess’don $10000 @ $2.15

Coll’wood $15000 @ $1.75

¼ time betting Coll $1000 @ $3.80

¼ Time betting Coll $500 @ $3.50

¼ Time betting Ess $1500 @ $1.25

Brisbane V West Coast

With the Eagles throwing everything they had at the Gabba giants early, some punters may have been looking for the heart pills in the first 15 mins. But the Lions lead by Mr No 1 (best player in AFL) M. Voss they not only withstand the onslaught but hand the Coasters a typical Gabba hiding of 47 points. Back to back Premiers are certainly on the cards in Season 2002. Most multies still alive with the 3 out of 4 Saturday favourites home. West Coast still in the mix for September action

Bigger Bets

Brisbane –40.5 $3000 @ $1.70

Brisbane (for the dinner bill) $2000 @ $1.08

WCE +45.5 $20000 @ $1.90

Port Adelaide V Adelaide

With some major exclusions for the Crows, Port firmed from an opening price of $1.85 to start at $1.60. Great contest all day with Port looking like it would cover the line, but a goal after the siren robbing Port punters of the line bets. Bickley’s season looks over courtesy of the AFL Tribunal. Rematch will be another good tussle in the Finals Series. Francou for Port firming up in Brownlow with another good effort.

Bigger Bets

Port $4000 @ $1.60

Port $2000 @ $1.60

Adel $3000 @ $2.30

Adel +10.5 $4400 @ $1.90

Sydney V Saints

Quiet game for our punters. Sydney supporters looking happy with themselves until they take foot off gas and Saints get within the points on offer. Brownlow firmers Williams start with a bang, but struggles with hamstring injury late. Riewoldt for Saints continues to improve.

Bigger Bets

Sydney $18000 –17.5 @ $1.90 (looked good early)

Sydney $4000 40+ @ $3.50

Saints $2500 +17.5 @ $1.90

Melbourne V Bulldogs

Another side with some injury doubts, the Bulldogs ease from the opening quote. All monies for the Demons with the office taking some nice wagers at the good odds of $1.80. Bulldogs season looks all over. Brownlow watch Darcy from Bulldogs plays ok, but Nietz & Yze of the Demons look to have a rough chance to pick up some votes for the year.

Bigger Bets

Demons $15000 @ $1.80

Demons $10000 @ $1.80

In Summary

A mixed bag for the punters with 6 outright favourites winning but some not covering the line.

P.S. What about this for a hard luck story!! One of our NRL punters coupled up all favourites at the line and threw in the Wallabies @ -4.5 for a $350 wager at the odds of $156.00. He had the $54600 sitting in his account until the last play of the day. (Ouch)
