******MEDIA RELEASE******MEDIA RELEASE****** SKANDIA ODDS-ON IN SYDNEY TO HOBART Victorian super maxi, the 98 foot Skandia, is an odds-on favourite with TABSportsbet at $1.70 to take out line honours in the 59th sailing of one of the worlds great Blue Water Classics the Sydney-to-Hobart. The Grant Wharington skippered favourite finished fourth in the race last year however with his brand new Australian designed and built boat he must have a great chance of taking line honours for the first time. Kiwi raider, Zana, another 98 foot giant that was only launched this year, is second pick at $2.50 and looks to be the only genuine chance of duelling with Skandia down Australia’s east coast. Grundig AAPT, skippered by Sean Langman, just failed to catch line honours winner, Alfa Romeo, in the run up the Derwent in last years event and is on the third line of betting at $10.00. Winner of the 2000 race, Nicorette, has had substantial changes this year and with the advantage of the highly experienced and decorated skipper in Ludde Ingvall, this boat has a great chance of improving on its fifth placing last year and is rated an $11.00 chance at TABSportsbet. Other boats to have an outside chance if luck goes their way are Brindabella (who won line honours in 1997) at $35.00 and Nokia (who finished third over the line in 2000 as Illbruck) is at a quote of 51.00.
