TAB Media Release
SPORTSTAB CUSTOMERS TO SCORE IN EURO 2004 SportsTAB announced today six exciting money back promotional offers during the 2004 European Football Championships being played in Portugal between 12 June and 4 July 2004. Two of the promotional offers centre on the most famous footballer in the world, David Beckham. Should David Beckham score the first goal in the England Vs France game on Monday 14 June (4.45am AEST) or the England Vs Croatia game on Tuesday 22 June (4.45am AEST), SportsTAB will refund all first goal scorer bets on that game. “Effectively, it’s a second bite of the cherry for those that place a 1st Goal Scorer bet,” commented SportsTAB’s Media Manager, Glenn Munsie. “If the player the customer invests on does not score the first goal in that match, they can still win their money back should Becks score first. And it’s an exceptional offer on our part as David Beckham is likely to take all the penalties and free kicks for England, so there’s a good chance that he may be the first goal scorer in either the France or Croatia game.” The other four promotional offers occur over two nights and offer customers who place a Correct Score bet a chance to win their money back. Applicable to both games played in the early hours on Thursday morning 17 June (AEST) and both games played on Saturday morning 19 June (AEST), SportsTAB will refund all losing Correct Score bets in that game if the score finishes 2-2. The four games are Greece Vs Spain (2.00am 17/6), Russia V Portugal (4.45am, 17/6), Bulgaria Vs Denmark (2.00am, 19/6) and Italy Vs Sweden (4.45am, 19/6). “We saw that Correct Score betting was popular in the 2002 World Cup, so we wanted to give customers who like that betting option a chance to win their money back as well,” Mr Munsie said. “So if the game that the customer bets on ends 2-2 at full time, they’re entitled to a full refund for all Correct Score bets they had on that game. So for them, 2-2 is the second best result.” The promotion is available in TAB Agencies, PubTABs, ClubTABs, via PhoneTAB on 136 337 and on-line at sportstab.com.au. Betting online via sportstab.com.au will be available right up to kick-off of all games. To be part of the promotion, customers simply place their 1st Goal Scorer or Correct Scores bets in the normal manner. Should Beckham score first or the game ends 2-2 in the nominated matches, customers need only to present their TAB betting receipt for payment to get their money back. Account customers will have their investment automatically refunded into their SportsTAB account. Customers can visit sportstab.com.au to find out more about SportsTAB’s money-back offers on Euro 2004 or listen for SportsTAB’s Glenn Munsie every weekday on 2KY’s Big Sports Breakfast and 2UE’s Sports Today. In the event that David Beckham is not in the 11-man starting side due to injury or other circumstances, Frank Lampard will be the replacement player selected for the promotion.
