SPORTINGBET AUSTRALIA Weekend

We're not actually feeling emotional about the end of the Wizard Cup,
though having got out with our peccadillos intact is a good omen for the
'next' season in which all the clubs are having a crack. We went out
2.05
Richmond, 1.75 Port and best collect was 15k at 1.70 the winner. With
minutes to go our 'Index Genius' was about to skin us again with $80
Port at
the -8 1/2 but three late goals to the Tigers had him winning petrol
money.
It was George Nathan who was quoted as saying "I drink to make
other people
interesting." A slight adaption might be applicable to this
competition,
starting with "I bet..." Port have been the biggest movers in
the
Premiership betting with 20 k at the opening 12.00, 10k at the 11.00 and
now
wound in to clear third favourite at 7.00.
The tide is obviously rising at Kingsmead and the rising
under wicket
water table making 'swing the king'. Australia went from 1.70 to 1.28,
with
the draw inflating from 2.80 to 51.00 by stumps day 2. It's been simply
a
case of "Australians all let us rejoice for we are home scot
free..." for
the punters during the series and this game is no different. It feels a
bit
unpatriotic but every time they get up we get thumped. Surely someone
can
pass a law or maybe we'll have to rely on the selectors to tap the best
captain since Cook on the shoulder and make this Aussie team human.
Thank
heavens for Rupert's Super 12's. A knowledgeable bet of 40k at the line
on
the Waratahs minus 26 1/2 came unstuck when the Cats managed to stay
within
23. 'Cross dressing' bought us back to the field though with fourteen
thousand at the 3.80 on the good things Sydney Roosters minus 9 1/2 into
the Wellington Hurricanes to win. A Friday night stitch up, but we
fronted
up Saturday bruised and bloodied to lay some serious Brumby money at the
minus 25 1/2 line and the Bulls did the rest.
Did Russell Crowe ring the bell before the Roosters/
Rabbitohs game or blow
Athol Mulley's whistle? The latter a few of the boys reckon. Every
smartie except the red ones was on City and the Rabbitohs line went from
7
1/2 to ten flat but we still couldn't get a deena. The pendulum swung
bach
with the porridge eating Bulldogs though and one punter unleashed 15
large
to win 2500 at the 1.16 and got the old fashioned bank tellers blues
weekend. Added to that were a number of other good results on the game.
Newcastle were 1.45 into 1.42 and along with Broncos in their game were
the
only team punters wooed. The Melbourne /Canberra game was a bit like
Gosch's Paddock (Storm training ground) there was nothing there. The
Parramatta line moved from a flat 11 to minus 14 1/2 and they'd nudged
that
by ten minutes in, justifying their spot as the only team punters
wanted.
It was a 1.90 your pick in the Sharks win against St George but the word
on
the Sharks was strong, twenty thousand at the 1.90 being the largest we
laid
but plenty of 'mums and dads' happy to take the win odds about Cronulla.
They also finished off a $3000 three leg multi of
Newcastle/Broncos/Sharks
at 3.64.
Our Brownlow board's been quiet with a clever insider
backing Travis
Johnston after his first pre season for five years. Thanks for the
donation
PH. Seems like at this stage of the season no one wants to get caught
with
their pants down. Hardly anyone anyway.
And just as we sign off the news from South Africa
leaves them with 71 to
get with 6 wickets. Now where does that leave us again? There's no rest,
but we love it.
