Essendon V Carlton The line makers got this one right with the Bombers winning by 25pts. This result made it one of those interesting games that if you got on early with the Bombers you got the money and if you waited for the line to move you would have got the chocolates with the Blues. The money came solidly for the Bombers all week and when Ratten pulled out late you couldn't write a ticket for the Blues. Well some were smart enough to follow their heads and others were left catching a cold as two of this years most disappointing teams bumbled around. The Saints just kept coming all day, just like the punters did for the juicy start. The bookies, on the other hand, couldn't take a trick and our prayers were not answered by the Demons holding on in a cliff hanger. Bookies, punters and your next door neighbors dog thought that the Pies would fall over the line. The winning line that is, not the betting line, which hovered in the mid teens. The Pies were the popular pick to add value to the all ups and the astute line punters couldn't get enough on the Dogs with the head start.
