AFL Week 8

Hawthorn V Carlton

At one stage in the second quarter it looked as if the Hawks would win by 100. At stages in the second half it looked as if they could go down by 5 goals. The betting, however, was not as exciting as the game. Punters found the Hawks far too short to bet at either the line or straight. The large money came for the Blues all week with the start and as the weather closed in Friday afternoon we couldn’t find a penny for the Hawks.

Bigger Bets

Carlton+35.5 $8000 @ $1.90
Carlton +34.5 $5000 @ $1.90

Richmond V West Coast

In a hard week this was one of the toughest to pick. The Eagles had made much of their poor away form and there were still many questions to be asked about the Tigers. No big betting on this game. A little support early in the week saw the Tigers drift out to $1.75 and before kick off we wrote a lot of small bets for the Tigers at this price.

Port Adelaide V Geelong

Punters got a bit to smart for themselves predicting a wet afternoon in Adelaide. The money came flooding in on Saturday morning for the Cats with the start. Punters again took Port in every multiple.

Bigger Bets

Geelong+24.5 $5000 @ $1.90
Geelong +27.5 $7000 @ $1.90
Geelong+27.5 $5000 @ $1.90

Collingwood V Brisbane

Well many questioned were answered here and multi punters cried themselves to sleep as the Premiers went crashing down at Colonial. Line punters, however, would have been busting open the bubbly as astute punters came early for the start.

Bigger Bets

Collingwood +28.5 $10 000 @ $1.90
Collingwood +27.5 $7000@ $1.90

Fremantle V Melbourne

A fairy tale unraveled for Freo punters as Demon backers were caught in a nightmare. It looked for all money that the D’s were going to get away with the chocolates in the West but the Wizard waved his magic wand for some. Money came for both sides in an evenly balanced betting affair.

Kangaroos V Adelaide

Punters fell in love with the Kangaroos this week. With the much talked about “senior player roasting” at Ardent St and the Roos impressive record in the Nation’s Capital we just kept taking bets on the Roos. The most popular pick was the Roos on the line, which was always going to give punters a good sight in a cold Canberra winter.

Bigger Bets

Kangaroos +14.5 $5000 @$1.90
Kangaroos +14.5 $10 000 @ $1.90
Kangaroos +11.5 $5000 @ $1.90
Adelaide $4000 @ $1.60

Bulldogs V Swans

Are the Swans no good? Have all these close loses taken toll on the Dogs? These were the questions that perplexed both punters and bookies a like on this game. The result was that there were no huge plunges on this game but a constant flow of money for both sides. Things heated up late with a lot of the Sydney boys betting with the heart just before kick off.

Bigger Bets

Swans –11.5 $5000 @ $1.90
Swans (Half Time) $5000 @ $2.25
Bulldogs (Half Time) $3000 @ $1.55

Essendon V St Kilda

The naming of the teams on Thursday night has again been shown up with Hamill and others being late withdrawals for the Saints. Everyone wanted to anchor their multiples with the popular pick though after last weeks heroics and the Bombers recent signs of fragility some “smarties” were again happy to take the under dogs with the big start.

Bigger Bets

Essendon $6000 @ $1.16
Essendon –38.5 $5000 @ $1.90
St Kilda +36.5 $5000 @$1.90

Good Health and Good Punting.
