World Cup Update
******MEDIA RELEASE******MEDIA RELEASE****** WALLABIES ON THE OUTER Australia has been the big drifter in the revamped Rugby World Cup market at TABSportsbet after the weekend’s quarterfinals. The Wallabies are now the rank outsiders of the four remaining countries and have drifted alarmingly in the betting from a quote of $4.50 last week out to $7.50. Their current price is even more amazing when you look at the opening market for the Rugby World Cup from December last year at which time Australia was a $2.75 second pick behind $2.50 favourite New Zealand. Apart from a brief moment mid-tournament when England were at the top of the betting, the All Blacks have been World Cup favourites and their present quote of $2.00 certainly stamps them as the team to beat. England has been well supported throughout the tournament and after opening the betting at $5.50, at one stage got into Cup favourites at $2.35 before easing to their current quote of $3.30. The French have easily been the best backed of the four teams remaining with one punter getting set just before the tournament started with a bet of $4,000 at quote of $15.00 for a collect of $60,000. TABSportsbet have New Zealand and England firm favourites to play in the final with the World Cup quinella for the All Blacks and England to lock horns at Telstra Stadium on the 22nd now at a quote of $1.80. BETTING AS AT 5pm MONDAY NOVEMBER 10 NEW ZEALAND $2.00 ENGLAND $3.30 FRANCE $5.00 AUSTRALIA $7.75
