BIG BASH 05
MELBOURNE STARS v BRISBANE HEAT
The Stars host the Heat on Thursday night as BBL 05 nears its regular season conclusion. The Melbourne side will be looking to further cement their home semi-final chances against a Brisbane team needing a miracle to make the Top 4. Both sides will roll out strong batting line ups with plenty of depth. Conversely, minimising runs has been the issue for Brisbane all season and the Stars may face a similar conundrum this evening. The loss of John Hastings and Scott Boland should not be underestimated, as their death bowling has been outstanding. I suspect the likes of Hilfenhaus and Gulbis bowling the final overs would be of great delight to the like of Lynn, Cutting etc.
Leave me out of the current head-to-head prices, however I think the price of Brisbane to hit most match sixes is tempting. Brisbane are averaging 6.5 sixes a match compared to the Stars 4 and Melbourne are yet to hit more than 6 in any match this season. Couple that with the fact that the Stars will be happy to grind out a win I think we can have a small investment. Also surprised at current odds on Brisbane to win the first six overs. They've literally got nothing to lose, can't see Pierson and Simmons going too slow early, while Marcus Stoinis has struggled to get it off the square recently. Good luck.
