NRL ROUND 25
Raiders v Knights
The Raiders finals hopes were extinguished last week by the Panthers and they’ll be fired up here to give their fans something to cheer about in the final home game of what’s been a disappointing season.
The Knights have been gutsy this season but they’ll find themselves totally outclassed in all aspects by the Raiders who are stacked with attacking weapons that have been quiet of late and are well overdue a scintillating performance.
The loss of Brock Lamb is a big out for the Knights as he’s been solid on attack for them in the halves and they’ll miss him when it comes to the limited attacking opportunities they’ll have in the Raiders red zone.
We’ll take the Raiders to win this by a landslide and cover the large start. Pick – 4 units on Raiders -16.5 or better point start (BEST BET)
Tigers v Cowboys
Having lost four on the trot the Cowboys will be nervously watching what’s going on below them on the ladder as another loss here could spell disaster.
The Cowboys do get good news on the injury front with Winterstein / Fensom both named and Coote / Cooper given a good chance of being late inclusions.
With everything to play for I expect we’ll see an extra spring in the Cowboys step; they have the personnel to get the job done and we’ll back them. Pick – 3 units on Cowboys -3.5 point start
Sharks v Roosters
The bookies have had trouble separating these two sides with the Sharks home advantage giving them the slight favouritism but there’s nothing between them on paper.
Not a whole lot to say about here, the sides have a very similar feel to them – big/solid forward packs littered with experience, decent halves pairings and pace to burn out wide. This has golden point written all over it and we’ll back either side in a very close one. Pick – 2 units on either team to win by 6 points and under.
Either team under 6.5 points2 at 2.55+3.1
Panthers v Dragons
The Dragons finals hopes are hanging by a thread and they simply have to win here; to not make the finals after such a promising start to the season would be a kick in the guts for the club.
There’s no shortage of quality attacking players in this Dragons side, a number of their victories this season have come off the back of huge efforts from their forwards and that’s exactly what McGregor will be demanding from his pack who will back themselves to get the better of the Panthers pack here. We all know what the likes of Dugan and Widdup can do with space at hand and all things considered I believe it’s worth having a little nibble on the value for a Dragons win in the margins. Pick – 2 units on Dragons to win by 12 points and under
