NRL ROUND 26
Eels v Rabbitohs
This game has points galore written all over it, the Eels are coming off a 52-34 drubbing of the Broncos and the Bunnies are still recovering from a 64-6 hiding at the hands of the Storm.
Short and sweet here, the Rabbitohs are done for the season but will be up for this after being humiliated last week and the Eels attack is absolutely humming.
The forecast is good and I see plenty of points in this one - we’ll take the combined points to go ‘overs’. Pick – 3 units on ‘over’ 42.5 total combined points
Sea Eagles v Panthers
Both these sides season hangs on this match and there really is not too much between them.
The Sea Eagles get Sironen back at lock which is a big boost for them and they’re playing at home……but the Panthers do have the better of the sides on paper for mine which makes this a very intriguing battle.
It's tough to separate these sides and I anticipate the match will be decided very late – we’ll take either side to win by a converted try or less. Pick – 2 units on either side to win by six points and under
Either Team Under 6.52 at 2.80-2
Storm v Raiders
The Raiders are by far the most disappointing of all the sides to not make the top eight, they have lifted in the latter half of the season though and Ricky Stewart will have them primed for a huge final match.
The Storm have been remarkable this season with breath-taking consistency each week; they secured the minor premiership several weeks ago yet they played like it was the grand final last week in absolutely demolishing the Rabbitohs 64-6. The final game of the regular season though should see some of their big guns get some rest throughout the match and I can see the Raiders pouncing.
Even though they’re playing away from home in Melbourne against the run-away premiership favourites I am not writing the Raiders off here as they have the side to cause an upset and will be driven to end what’s been a disappointing season on a high note. We’ll have a little nibble on the Raiders to get the win in the margins at very good value. Pick – 1 unit on Raiders to win by 12 points and under
Tigers v Warriors
The Tigers have Brooks returning to the halves which is a massive ‘in’ as they try and send star players Woods and Tedesco off in style and what better place to do so than at Leichhardt Oval in front of what’s expected to be a large home crowd. The Warriors have named an unchanged side to that which lost in golden point to the Sea Eagles last week but its expected Johnson will be a late withdrawal through injury.
The Warriors look incapable of securing a win and are once again the laughing stock at the back end of the competition; I’m sure they’ll be anything but primed for this clash as most of them will be dreaming of Summer which is quite the opposite to the Tigers who have finished the season strong and won’t let up here.
I can only see this going one-way – a massive win to the Tigers as they send off a few club legends in style and make a mockery of the point start. Pick – 4 units on Tigers -4.5 point start (BEST BET)
